Trunk or Treat: Creating Joy, Community, and Safe Spaces
At Pass the Class, impact doesn’t always look like tutoring sessions or service hours. Sometimes, it looks like costumes, candy buckets, and a parking lot full of laughter.
Last fall, Pass the Class participates in Trunk or Treat, a community event designed to provide a safe, inclusive, and family-friendly Halloween experience for local children and families. Our volunteers transform car trunks into themed displays, dress up in costume, and spend the evening handing out candy, smiles, and a little extra joy.
For our students, Trunk or Treat is a reminder that showing up for the community can — and should — be fun. Whether it’s getting creative with decorations, coordinating costumes, or leaning fully into the Halloween spirit, our volunteers embrace the opportunity to connect with families in a way that feels welcoming and lighthearted.
At its core, the event reflects the same values that guide all of Pass the Class’s work: presence, accessibility, and care. By creating safe spaces for kids to be kids, we reinforce our belief that strong communities are built not just through support and service, but through shared moments of joy.
